Moss Obsessed

I’ll admit it, I LOVE MOSS!!! There’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the bright green color or because it’s so squishy. I just want to pet it.

Real live moss can be hard to come by in the dry months. The moss they sell at craft stores is preserved and the one at florist suppliers can be a little expensive. That’s why I grabbed a bunch I found just outside our back gate during the rainy season. I’m glad I did because as soon as the rains disappeared so did the moss. I just created some cute terrariums with most of it, so I’ll just have to wait for the spring to get some more, sigh.

Tips for keeping your moss alive:

It tends to dry out quickly, so keep it moist. You can water it weekly and mist it every few days .

Keep it outside but in the shade. It likes a bit of indirect sun, but not too much.

So what can you do with moss? Well I’ll tell ya. You can:

Use it in arrangements or centerpieces…

Use it in terrariums. I just made this one from an old vase and plate, check it out here.

Wear it…

Grow it on objects to create cool garden art or really comfy seating.

Create graffiti garden wall art. This has to be coolest idea of the bunch and it’s super easy to do. Learn how to make it here.

The wall next to our front door is a prime candidate for this. I’ll try to regrow the bit of moss I have left, wait for the rains to come or which ever comes first.
